Friends of Friends is a research project which investigates new forms collective experience. After a series of general investigations we focused on the ubiquitous parking lot as a site for a series of interactive design experiments. We imagined the parking lot as a new class of space which is designed to act as a bridge between online social networking space and the physical places we inhabit everyday. We created a ‘kit of parts’ of high- and low- tech components which allowed us to experiment in our College’s parking lot by installing a series of different hybrid infrastructures. The project is designed to act as a foundation for a larger scale design experiment.
