Structural Testing
How might we use structural testing to develop generative mark making strategies? We will approach this question through a combination of material exploration, predictive modeling and physical computing. An example of a flaw detection system we will explore is sonic flaw detection which sends sound vibrations into a material. Harmony between the sent and received sound indicates structural integrity. Dis-harmony indicates a flaw. Over time, repeated detection of a flaw and the resulting dis-harmony can aggravate into structural failure, resulting in aesthetic phenomena.
